What is Honda Sensing?
In their Honda Sensing review, CNET states that Honda Sensing has “now been fitted to 1 million vehicles.” So, you’re probably wondering, “What is Honda Sensing, and why is it so popular?” Honda Sensing is a safety suite that’s standard on select new vehicles, such as the 2018 Honda Accord and 2019 Honda Pilot. With Honda Sensing, you can drive more confidently in Cody, knowing the system has your back—as well as your front and side.
What’s Included in the Honda Sensing Package?
Honda Sensing features several technologies to help you stay aware of your surroundings on Laurel roads:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)—helps brake the car if a collision with a straight-ahead vehicle seems likely.
- Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)—uses a small camera to detect road markings and will alert you if you begin to leave the road.
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)—helps you maintain a preset following distance.
- Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)—automatically adjusts steering to bring you back to the center of the lane if you begin to drift.
- Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)—uses a camera to detect and alert you to speed limit signs.
Can You Turn Off Honda Sensing?
You might be asking yourself, “Is Honda Sensing worth it if I don’t want to use these features all the time?” Yes—you can turn them off. If you want to turn off RDM, you can press a button under ECON. LKS can be turned off by pushing the MAIN button on the steering wheel until the indicators in the instrument cluster are gone.
You can also configure Honda Sensing settings via the optional central touchscreen. Hit “Settings,” “Vehicle Settings,” and then “Drive Assist Setup.” This allows you to change RDM warnings, distance warnings for CMBS, and more.
