Honda Pilot Engine

The 2018 Honda Pilot engine is a standard 3.5L V6 that outputs 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. On most Pilot trim levels, this power is sent out via a six-speed automatic transmission, but the Touring trim steps you up to a nine-speed automatic with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. When properly equipped, the Honda Pilot tows up to 5,000 pounds.

The Honda Pilot’s engine includes direct fuel injection, an Eco Assist™ system, Variable Cylinder Management™, and other features that help maximize performance and fuel economy. With its base engine and transmission, the 2018 Honda Pilot earns an EPA-estimated 19 mpg city/27 mpg highway*.

Honda Pilot Drivetrain

The standard drivetrain on the Honda Pilot is front-wheel drive, but all models are also offered with an all-wheel drive option. The Pilot also includes a few features to help you navigate Red Lodge roads:

  • All models except the base trim also get the Intelligent Traction Management System. On 2WD models, this includes a special setting for Snow. If you choose AWD, you’ll also get settings for Snow, Sand, and Mud.
  • Hill Start Assist helps keep your vehicle from going backward when you’re stopped on a hill.
